President
Debbie Johnson has worked with Johnson Excavating and Trucking Services, Inc., better known as J.E.T.S., Inc., since 1989. She began as a bookkeeper and helped to build the business which initially consisted of two dump trucks. Debbie worked full time at a law firm in St. Louis and worked nightly for her husband at J.E.T.S., Inc. until 1991. She then quit her legal job and became a full time bookkeeper at J.E.T.S., Inc. At this time, it was determined the company needed to expand so she began brokering trucks. On occasion, she had as many as 55 at once. Debbie continues to grow the business making it a “professional trucking company”. In 1994, her husband became quite ill and was unable to work at his usual pace. Debbie was put in a position to take on more responsibility for the day to day operation. In 1997, her husband Steve, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was unable to do anything affiliated with J.E.T.S., Inc. Sole responsibility for running the business fell upon Debbie. In 2003, she was certified as a Woman Disadvantage Business Enterprise.
Running any company poses an endless array of challenges. Some men don’t perceive women as business equals but especially when the business is primarily male dominated and oriented. Each day Debbie strives to be better than her male counterparts.
Debbie is a native Illinoisan and enjoys giving back to her community. She can be relied upon to volunteer for any job. Each day, her goal is to make a positive difference in someone’s life in any way possible. Pay it forward is her daily passage.
Debbie and her husband Steve reside in Caseyville, Illinois. They are blessed with two granddaughters who joyously rule their lives.
